TRIGGER FINGER

A trigger finger is a condition when the flexor tendon to one or more of the fingers becomes caught in the pulley mechanism in the hand.  This can occur of a number of reasons.

Treatment can involve a steroid injection into the flexor sheath, which can relieve symptoms some of the time.  In more severe cases, or those not responding to steroid, a surgical procedure may be required.

The surgical release of a trigger finger is a relatively straightforward procedure usually performed as a day surgery case.
